Experience
I have 10 years of tutoring experience. I have tutored non-native English speakers in English language skills, which has led to noticeable improvement in their workplace environments. I worked as a nanny in for elementary school-aged kids, which required helping them with their daily homework as well as long-term projects. While I was in school I also tutored peers by editing their work, checking closely for errors in grammar and syntax. I have helped several students find appropriate focus topics for their college application essays. I scored very high on the SAT in both reading and writing, as well as on the AP tests for AP Language and AP Literature. I am an excellent writer and critical thinker. I enjoy helping others find their voices and make sound argumentative work, as writing/communication is a highly useful and important skill both in life and in various careers. I also speak fluent Spanish and am currently working towards earning my teaching credential in order to teach high school Spanish. My two years of experience as a nanny has made me very good at navigating through all the ups and downs of emotions that children experience. I am very apt at handling the frustration of not getting something or the overwhelming feeling of never being able to understand a concept that seems to come so easily to their peers. I have been there, so I know what that feels like. I have a way of presenting subjects in a non-intimidating way so your child can go back to school feeling confident and hopeful. I love that tutoring is either one-on-one or in a small group setting. It makes students feel like they are getting the attention they need, and those who are afraid to ask questions in a large group setting will feel much better seeking help with a tutor. Also, tutoring gives me lots of great experience which will help me become the best teacher I can be!

Hobbies
I really enjoy working with kids and people of all ages. I also love dancing, biking to the beach, and spending time with friends and family and my dog. I am a very active person, I like being outside in the California sunshine, shooting hoops, playing soccer, and listening to music/singing. I am very kind and personable and have a great sense of humor. I've always been apt at finding a way to relate to whomever I'm working with. I am left-handed, a creative thinker with a unique perspective. I have always enjoyed helping people, and seeing their eyes light up when they finally "get" something, finish a task or accomplish a goal. I'm also very patient. I like to make learning fun and interesting; I believe that while every subject is not for everyone, we can all find something that sparks our interest and make us want to learn!
