Experience
I graduated from Duke University with a bachelor's degree in education policy and health policy. While I was pursuing my undergraduate degree, I also actively participated in athletics, in addition to holding leadership positions for a number of student clubs and academic groups. My own experiences as a student have taught me the importance of receiving a good education, which is why I worked as a reading and math tutor throughout my academic career. Upon graduating from Duke, I joined a national volunteer organization and worked as a teacher for two years. This opportunity allowed me to take a hands-on approach to teaching and learning, which I used to help a number of students from different walks of life. As a teacher, I believe that a good education extends beyond test prep and studying - it's also about helping a new generation of students gain the experience and life skills needed to succeed in college and out in the professional world. This is also the primary reason why I feel so passionately about teaching. There's no greater feeling than being able to use your own skills and wisdom to make a difference in someone's life. When I'm not teaching, I like to spend my time playing sports, running, and painting.
